Fake registration tab leads to arrest in Canyon Country for grand theft, stolen Vespa recovered
Fake registration tabs led to the arrest of a man and the recovery of a stolen Vespa, among several other charges on Wednesday.
Wednesday, the crime The Prevention Unit was conducting a crime suppression operation when deputies observed a vehicle with fake registration tabs on Crossglade Avenue and Soledad Canyon Road at canyon countrysaid MP Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“During a roadside check, the driver was unable to provide proof of registration, nor to remember much information about who he had ‘borrowed’ the van from, which led deputies to believe the van was stolen,” Arriaga said.
During the vehicle investigation, deputies found a Vespa lying in the loading area, which was later determined to be FlyArriaga said.
“The adult male, who has multiple prior convictions for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, was convicted of grand theft of a car, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and displaying false registration tabs” , added Arriaga.
Anthony Sandoval Castillo, was booked in the SCV Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody as of Thursday.
