Fortnite v18.10 patch notes: downtime, bug fixes and more

Epic games

The first major update of Fortnite Season 8 is almost here, and with it a bunch of in-game changes.

So far this season, we’ve seen a variety of map and cube changes moving around the island, and all of that has happened without any updates.

Now that we’re getting downtime, players are set to go through some big changes, and the updates are definitely the time for developers to do just that.

Since we mentioned downtime, we figured this would be a good time to dive right into that.

Fortnite v18.10 Downtime

The downtime for this update will occur at 4 a.m. ET / 1 a.m. PT, and the game will likely be on hiatus for about an hour before it’s available again.

At this time, you won’t be able to log into Fortnite or play matches, so you’ll need to make sure you’re done before you get to that point.

Once finished, you will be able to install the update and go directly to all the news.

While the actual patch notes haven’t existed throughout Chapter 2, Epic has a list of the bugs they fix in each update, so you’ll be able to browse all of that on the official Trello board.

This table is your best bet when you come across a revolutionary bug or things like that. If it’s on the list, then you know Epic is working on a fix for it.

Here’s everything tagged for a fix in the next update:

  • Scrolling in the Discover UI
  • Crash site slip streams do not turn off after reaching a certain storm circle phase
  • Vehicles take heavy damage when colliding with the wreckage of the Mothership.
  • The Dark Jonesy Stage 2 quest “Light a Campfire” does not progress during the match when obtained.
  • The donation tables do not display the elements of the war effort in the chosen language.
  • Players are teleported when they jump through barriers. (Creative)
  • Allow respawn only if the Spawn Pads Found setting is not working. (Creative)
  • Structures built by players cannot be placed next to the barrier device. (Creative)
  • Cannot swap hero charges in the lobby while using a controller. (Save the world)
  • Campfires above level 130 are displayed as 130 (Save the World)
  • Dungeon Announcer “Found All Rooms” audio loops (Save the World)
  • Quests cannot be pinned from the Quest Log (Save the World)
  • Voice chat on Switch will not connect to group chat.

The start of a season brings a huge update, so it’s no surprise to see all of these issues currently in Fortnite. Fortunately, Epic will be fixing them all in the next update.

Now what are the new things we can expect?

Riding animals this update?

From the leaks, we know there will be some drivable animals in Fortnite at some point, so why not this update?

We don’t know anything for sure, but there are signs that it will happen at some point in the season.

It would be cool to ride a Raptor, and it looks like it could very well become a reality this season.

On a lesser, but still exciting note, there will be more Toona Fish styles to unlock. In case you haven’t played this season, Toona Fish is new skin that can be repainted to look like other skin. It’s a cool addition and it’s easily the most customizable skin we’ve seen in Fortnite.

It will also be the update with the buff to gain XP in Battle Royale mode. Epic explains that players haven’t won enough in each game, so they’re making some changes.

We’ll also be seeing the Spicy Chug Splashes this update, something that was leaked earlier in the season.
