GTA 6 Rumor Suggests Red Dead Redemption 3 Won’t Release This Generation
While we haven’t seen anything official revealed, GTA 6 rumors have been circulating for months and months now.
While no one seems to know for sure, Rockstar’s next GTA is widely expected to release after 2023, with years still to go.
Given the popularity of GTA Online, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but that’s not stopping fans from getting impatient.
GTA 6 will be Rockstar’s only release of this generation
The latest rumor/report comes from @AccNgt, who frequently answers questions from fans. They’ve been right about some high profile games in the past, but anything they say should be taken with a grain of salt.
They suggest that GTA 6 will be Rockstar’s only game releasing this gen (Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5) outside of all ports and remasters, like the next-gen version of GTA V which was recently pushed back to March. 2022.
While this doesn’t mean much for the Grand Theft Auto series, it does mean something for Red Dead Redemption fans who were hoping for a new game in the series to be released within the next few years.
If GTA 6 is going to be the only new game to come out this generation, we’re probably less than five years away from seeing anything else come out from Rockstar, Red Dead or otherwise.
The PS5/Xbox Series generation is only a year old as we enter 2022, the next one probably won’t arrive until 2026 or 2027. If these rumors are true, we won’t get anything but GTA 6 from Rockstar by then.
While it might seem unusual, especially to longtime Rockstar fans, Red Dead Redemption 2 was actually the only brand new release in the last generation.
GTA V came to PS4 and Xbox One (we’ll probably see it for generations to come) but that was it.
Unlike the previous generation, which saw multiple GTA, Red Dead, LA Noire, and more releases, Rockstar’s schedule has really slowed down.
So while GTA 6 being the only release on PS5 and Xbox Series X would be disappointing, it shouldn’t be such a surprise.
