How to get bone meal in Minecraft

Bone Meal is one of the most commonly seen and used items in Minecraft. This means that some players will want to have a large supply to take advantage of its many uses.

From growing plant life to making dyes, blocks, and lots of decorations, Bone Meal is a great all-around material in Minecraft. For those who don’t know how to find or do it, however, it may not be as accessible. However, there are many ways to refuel Bone Meal. It spawns in many loot locations, in addition to being droppable from fish. Also, by using a composter and putting enough plant material inside, you will get a lump of bone meal.

For Minecraft players who are struggling to get Bone Meal Drops, finding regular bones is a great substitute, as the bones can be broken down into three Bone Meals per piece. Players who are trying to find bones in Minecraft can try these methods:

  • While killing fish can produce bone meal on its own, the act of fishing can often snag a few bones on players. While this is incredibly rare, having the Luck of the Sea enchantment on the player’s fishing rod can grant a 1% chance of getting a bone just by fishing. Minecraft players hoping to get a large number of bones in a short period of time should avoid this method.
  • Killing Skeletons, Wither Skeletons, Skeletal Horses, and Strays will drop 0 to 2 bones per kill. If the player uses a Looting enchantment on their weapon, they can increase this number to a maximum of five bones by using the Looting III enchantment.
  • In the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, Salmon, Cod, Pufferfish, and Tropical Fish have a 25% chance of dropping 1-2 bones when they die. This is also amplified by the Plunder enchantment.
  • Bones can be found in several different loot chests. Chests can be found in Dungeons, Desert Temples, Jungle Temples, and Woodland Manors. This is true for the Bedrock and Java editions of Minecraft.

With a little luck and determination, it’s not difficult to grab a few extra bones or chunks of Bone Meal. For more ambitious Minecraft players, there is also the option of creating a Bone Meal farm. Although this is a resource intensive project, the rewards are well worth the investment.
