Will Red Dead Online’s success change the release of GTA 6 in 2023? | Games | Entertainment

The most recent reports suggest that GTA 6 will be released in 2023 and will take place in modern times.

There could be some big time jumps to help deliver popular content for gamers, with plenty of ideas kicked in for the expected sequel.

For now, Rockstar Games is keeping quiet about what they have planned, and it could be some time before we know their full plans.

One interesting thing that has been noted is the kind of format change Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive could use when GTA 6 launches.

After the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games continued with the release of a multiplayer experience.

But unlike GTA Online, Red Dead Online struggled to find an audience, suffering from a lack of content and connection issues.

However, Rockstar Games decided to change the format of Red Dead Online, making it possible to play without needing to purchase the full game.

Red Dead Online has become its own product and has since managed to find its own player base.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed this during a recent earnings report, telling investors:

“Sales of Grand Theft Auto V also exceeded our expectations. And to date, the title has sold over 145 million units worldwide.

“Red Dead Online exceeded our expectations during the fourth quarter, with active players significantly increasing their recurring consumer spending, exceeding our plans, in part thanks to the success of the recently released standalone version of the game.

“Throughout the period, Rockstar Games released new content updates for Red Dead Online, including brand new missions for single player players.

And speaking about the future of his biggest franchises and how the storytelling might change with the arrival of new metaverse experiences, Zelnick added: ability to enjoy those experiences with other people all over the world.

“That’s what really matters. I think what the Metaverse entails is what we’re already doing with Grand Theft Auto Online and with what Red Dead Online, what we’re doing with NBA 2K, and what we’re aiming to do with some upcoming titles, an opportunity to exist in this fictional world and express yourself in a stimulating, fun, competitive and new way and we find ourselves in places doing things that we usually can’t do in the real world. I think that’s what it means.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding the release of Red Dead Online, and there’s a good chance Take-Two will take note of how its launch went.

They also noted the increase in performance with the standalone version of Red Dead Online and have already planned to do the same with GTA Online on next-gen consoles.

So, is it possible that GTA 6 will launch on its own, while GTA Online takes off and becomes its own product?

Only time will tell, but for now it looks like Take-Two is happy to experiment when needed and leave things alone that have been proven to work.
